Greeting Cards

I've been very busy this summer creating art for greeting cards. Here's a sneak peek of some of the work I've been doing - it's always fun to see the actual cards after printing....

More Milton Avery

If you have followed my blog for any length of time you will know that I am a huge fan of Milton Avery's work. Every time I do an image search I find new pieces that I haven't seen. I also have been looking for this image for a while and finally found it, my absolute favorite piece of his titled Mother and Child.

Here are two more lovely pieces -

Happy Anniversary tomorrow.

Last year was my 25th wedding anniversary . We were trying to come up with something really special to do but couldn't find just the right thing. Then we received a phone call from our son. Okay, so I need to give you a little back story here. When my son was 11 turning 12 (ten years ago) he auditioned to be on the first every Kid's Jeopardy Show. In fact he was in the very first show and was the first kid to walk on stage. Yes, it was incredibly exciting and worth a blog post of its own, but I must not get too distracted here.

So, he got a call that the producers of the show were interested in a reunion show and would he be interested. All but one of the original group said yes (and the one that said no couldn't get away from a med school commitment). They taped the show last summer - right around our 25th wedding anniversary. Hey, a trip to LA to watch the taping sounded like a great anniversary celebration. I didn't post about it last year out of respect for my son's privacy, but now it is old news and a great story! So the first ever Kid's Week Reunion was taped and aired last fall. And to add to the excitement, he won his round and is now a Jeopardy Champion. Winds up it was Jeopardy's 25th Anniversary also - which is why they hatched the idea for a special reunion show. Stay tuned in ten years, they may just do it again.

Well, we will have a much quieter anniversary celebration this year, but I must say - I am married to the smartest, sweetest, most incredible guy - and I really can't believe it has been this long. I love this photo of us, circa somewhere around 1985. He looks so retro, in a "Magnum PI moustached" way. I am just a girl who likes to draw and put designs on cloth, and as lucky as I feel every day when I go to work, I am far luckier to have married my best friend and been a mom to one of the coolest kids I know.

Thanks for checking in and sharing my little corner of the world.
xoxo

Inspiration

I made a purchase the other day from the talented Katherine Dunn. Check out her blog about life on Apifera Farm and Apifera-a-day where she has all kinds of treats for sale.

More Eye Candy

Remember this quilt I had custom sewn by SF Quilts for my son in June?

I eyed this beautiful quilt on her site using Amy Butler fabrics which I just purchased as a special treat for moi.

I just love the color palette and decided to do a flickr color search with this palette (color credit on this goes to Amy Butler)

What's New?

I know this isn't the cheeriest picture, but I do love it and find it hauntingly beautiful. My son took it when he was studying abroad in Vietnam over a year ago. He has returned and I can't wait to see some of his new photos from his current trip.

I finally succumbed to joining Facebook. I couldn't face having another website to check for messages etc, but then realized its benefits - in particular- staying in touch with my traveling son. So if you are on facebook and feel like another friend is in order then please look me up.

I have been very good about letting you know that Animal Party is now in stores, as is the On A Whim owls. Also, don't forget about the minky dots. I have a couple more collections rolling out - "All My Heart" - yup lots of hearts and some cupcakes too and "On A Whim II" with more frogs, some big cats, more birds, and lots of dots. Not sure about release dates yet, but I will preview when I get my fabric samples, so lots to look forward to.

I don't say this enough, but the biggest thank you to all of you who have enjoyed my fabrics and my work. Your support and enthusiasm fuels my days.

XOXO,
Amy

More Animal Party

The Fabtalk blog has a nice summary about Animal Party and a slide show of the line. Robert Kaufman is offering a free downloadable quilt pattern here. There are three color choices in the downloadable pattern.

And of course, don't forget, purchasing yardage from this collection benefits Qults for Kids, an organization that offers comfort to children in need. Read more about the collection and Quilts for Kids on the Kaufman site,

Where to find Animal Party (Quilts For Kids)

The Animal Party line is now posted in its entirety on Robert Kaufman's website. Make sure to scroll all the way down under the fabric panels to see the yardage. It is now available in stores. It might not come up under my name, however. It will be listed under Quilts For Kids as the proceeds will go to benefit them. If you are looking for the fabrics, do a search under Animal Party, Robert Kaufman, or Quilts for Kids. It may come up on some sites under my name.
