AMY SCHIMLER ILLUSTRATION AND DESIGN

Ebony and Ivory

Living in a community rich in wildlife, you notice a lot of animals that get "dropped off". There was the wolfote (wolf/coyote mix) that was the size of a miniature pony and totally unafraid of people, from time to time a dog who is unwanted, many lost looking cats, and most frequently domesticated ducks. These two "best friends" showed up at the lake recently. They stick together like glue and totally don't blend in or get along with the wild natural ducks to the area. They pull at my heart strings a bit. Neither here nor there, just trying to make their situation work. I might be reading too much into it. They come, all aquack,  for a stroll in my front yard every morning, picking the wayward seeds that drop from the bird feeder.

Maybe they've heard you find inspiration for lovely art in the animals you see..... ducks are very under appreciated, chickens usually get all the hype.
