Baby Hats

I was searching for baby bonnets on Etsy for an illustration I was doing for a client and got carried away looking at baby hats.  Here are some of my favorites that I came across -

cupacake hats (sorry couldn't find a link but I will keep searching)

So Busy....

My work load has really picked up lately. Here is what I am working on - a series of board books for preschoolers, proposing another cool book project and developing a couple of ideas, lots of greeting cards, lots of new pattern design (above), and a new line of fabrics coming in December for Quilts for Kids. Sneaky peeks of the fabrics will be planned for the end of summer, so stay tuned. Hope you are all having a busy summer too.

Needlepoint Canvases

Something I have overlooked talking about on this blog is my licensing relationship with Birds of a Feather - a company that manufactures needlepoint canvases and a few other needlepoint products.
Here are a few online shops that carry my canvases. There are lots of brick and mortar stores carrying the Birds of a Feather line.

So I Started Another Blog

It is difficult enough keeping up with one blog, I admit. But I do love documenting the progression of my work and sharing it with you. I am continually working on my split personality of what I call my fine art self and my commercial art self. What is the difference? Well, many differences. If I truly want to make a decent living in the creative arts, meaning dependable income - which I do, then I have to sometimes work with some very specific art direction. Which, by the way, has mostly been a pleasant process. I do yearn to reconnect to my artsier self however - there is a sense of abandon I have let lie dormant and it is time to shake it awake. My new blog is for me, a place to pay attention to this desire I have - I left this path before I was fully formed - had a family, got seriously ill but recovered, and then went to work full time plus.  I am really curious to see who I am as an artist. I shouldn't be too hard on myself, because I do still clock a lot of hours with my current work. But I have agreed with myself to take as much time as is necessary. I probably won't post often, but I am hoping to participate at an art show here in Atlanta a year from August. I invite you to stop in from time to time to take a peek.

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation

I found out this week that Oopsy Daisy will be involved with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation's A Time for Heroes Celebrity Picnic. The participating kids will get to make their own nightlight to take home - which will feature my "Turtle Pair" artwork. The event takes place on June 13th, which is this Sunday. Elisabeth Glaser is definitely one of my personal heroes. She displayed enormous strength and courage in the face of unspeakable tragedy and selflessly turned her losses into aid for so many children.  If you are in the LA area and have little ones, it is a great benefit to contribute to.
